Harassment refers to a wide spectrum of offensive behavior.The term commonly refers to behavior intended to disturb or upset, and, when the term is used in a legal sense, it refers to behaviours which are found threatening or disturbing. Sexual harassment refers to persistent and unwanted sexual advances, typically in the workplace, where the consequences of refusing are potentially very disadvantageous to the victim.

Example: Talking to someone excessively without permission and continuing the conversation.

History

United States

In 1964, the United States Congress passed Title VII of the Civil Rights Act,and prohibiting discrimination at work on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin and sex. This later became the legal basis for early harassment law. The practice of developing workplace guidelines prohibiting harassment was pioneered in 1969, when the U.S. Department of Defense drafted a Human Goals Charter, establishing a policy of equal respect for both sexes. In Meritor Savings Bank v. Vinson, 477 U.S. 57 (1986): the U.S. Supreme Court recognized harassment suits against employers for promoting a sexually hostile work environment. In 2006, U.S.A. President George W. Bush signed a law which prohibited the transmission of annoying messages over the Internet (aka spamming) without disclosing the sender's true identity.

If I have been dismsised from a company through questionable procedures of what may have been being involved in a sexually hostile work environment (as i believe was the case and i was made to feel uncomfortable as well though dismissed before i got to say anything,) is reinstatement a possible option of a lawsuit brought against the compant, after your Letter of Intent to Sue?

A. Discuss this with your attorney. Even if it is legally possible, why would you want to go back there? Returning on the basis of a lawsuit is extremely sticky, your life will be H, and one way or another you will have to leave. If you were dismissed prior to making any mention of the supposed problem, you can be sure there is no way to bring up the issue now. It looks like a case of retaliation on your part against the employer for terminating you, or at least a case of sour grapes. Forget it.
