Harassment covers a wide range of offensive behaviour. It is commonly understood as behaviour intended to disturb or upset. In the legal sense, it is behaviour which is found threatening or disturbing. Sexual harassment refers to persistent and unwanted sexual advances, typically in the workplace, where the consequences of refusing are potentially very disadvantageous to the victim.

How do you recover from being accused of sexual harassment?
Q. I have a bad habit of staring at people (male, female doesn't matter). I think that someone pressed sexual harassment or harassment charges with HR. Is there any way to recover professionally from this?

A. It won't likely go to court. But if it's a frequent habit of yours, you will probably get a warning from your manager that your staring is creating a hostile workplace environment. The fact is, staring *is* considered rude and aggressive behavior by many people. In some cultures, it can even mean that you're looking for a fight and can get you punched out (try moving to a Latino neighborhood, if you don't believe me).

Why would being called siamese twin at work be considered harassment?
Q. My husband and I work together. We go to lunch and breaks together like anyone else and when we have vacation time we take off together from our job. But any time our department manager and I speak about taking time off or taking our breaks or lunch she calls us siamese twins. I have told her to not do that and she continues to call us out of our names for fun. Is this considered harassment?

A. heck no, the manager is probably just goofing around. she probably says it because of the fact that you do everything together and are "joined at the hip" as the saying goes. i dont think she means any harm of it. but she SHOULD respect you if you have told her to stop. but its not harassment

What are the legal remedies for a false or malicious sexual harassment allegation made by a colleague at work?
Q. A foreign colleague in a UK incorporated multinational has maliciously evoked a Sexual Harassment clause in the Group's Policy in an attempt to fix me. It has been rumoured all over the Group and formally lodged but not substantiated. It is all FALSE! I am deeply injured by the allegation(s). My boss even reprimanded me on that account without giving me the benefit of doubt.

A. Yes. If not true and you have tried several times to remedy the false report with your company and your boss, then it's time to see a lawyer.
